Evolving Camouflage

My final univeristy project aims to explore our symbiotic relationship with nature and how we interact with it, enabling the target consumer to immerse themselves in what they love most and signifying a deep awareness of nature’s benefits for our lives. The idea of camouflage being a direct representation of nature’s textures with the intention to conceal the wearer has inspired me to think about my use of print and repeat in this project, to develop and experiment with this well-known technique and translating this intuitively to fabric. The final collection is a women’s outdoor wear and active wear range, aiming to empower the wearer to feel confident, individual and well protected when exercising or exploring the outdoors. The garments are made of durable high performance fabrics that are environmentally friendly and have an element of transformability to them to enhance the wearers experience and provide longevity. My interest in smart materials and technical fabrics is reflected through the use of transformable fabric inks, such as hydrochromic inks, to allow designs to adapt within the natural changing environments.
